Am finally improving

The various skin issues (turns out it was a couple of different problems) are finally healing and for the first time in weeks I am feeling something other than miserable, which is very happy making.
The predisone pack worked well on clearing up the hives, but I was left with this bright red, burning spot on my chest in neck. Said spot got painful enough to result in an Emergency Room visit Monday night when I could no longer block the pain out. Turns out that I somehow had not avoided the sun as well as I thought and had a photo-reactive sunburn on my neck, chest (down to my sternum), and face. I may have had it while I also had the hives, but I was so miserable I couldn't distinguish between the two. They gave me lydocaine ointment and some pain meds. The lydocaine ointment has helped enough that I have only needed the pain meds at night. And while at the ER we discovered that the prednisone had resulted in an opportunistic yeast infection on a different area of my chest. ::headdesk::
Because yeast is something my Lyme doc harps on as it is a co-infection of Lyme, this set off brain weasels regarding diet. Basically my brain was yelling very loudly that if I had developed a yeast issue it had to be because of my diet, which has not changed at all silly brain weasels. This resulted in me not wanting to eat at all, which is not helpful. I've noticed that I have a really bad habit of assuming that all the bad things that happen in my life must somehow be caused by my own behavior. Probably because I was taught that all the bad things in the world were somehow my fault. Not feeling well tends to make my brain reset to earlier modes and thought patterns, which is helpful to know but sometimes difficult to recognize when happening. After rest, food, pain medication and many talks with family I got the brain weasels to quiet down a bit.
I have another follow-up with my primary care office in a few weeks to make sure all the various skin problems have cleared up completely. And the ER wanted me to follow up with a Dermatologist as well, so I will call and schedule that appointment early next week. I also will call my Lyme doc next week and let him know what is going on and discuss when we might want to resume treatment and what steps he wants to take next.
I did get out of the house briefly today despite the slush on the ground. Was a good test of my cars ability to handle not so good weather and the roads were actually pretty clear. I made a short trip to the pharmacy to pick up a refill and get a few other necessities. Also made a very brief stop by Target. Then came home and put my pajamas back on. :)
Sister and niece have ventured out to explore an IKEA somewhere to the south of us. Niece is getting a bedroom make-over for Christmas and wanted to go pick out her new bed. So for now the house is quiet with just me Artemis and Z. Z has not needed to go out yet, so we haven't seen her reaction to snow. She was originally rescued from South Carolina, so I'm not sure if she's experienced snow or not. Right now she is perfectly content to snore on her comfy bed. I hope all my friends in the US enjoy their Thanksgiving holidays and that said holidays are not stressful (as I know they can be). Hope all my friends outside of the US are having a good and non-stressful week as well. :)
