Counting my blessings where I can
Aug. 18th, 2014 08:49 pmWas able to get things sorted at work, and am now officially on leave. I don't have any vacation or sick days left, but I will not loose my benefits while I'm out and that was the most important part of the equation. I also managed to get transferred out of the business development department and back to the trail consulting department. I will be a full-time research associate when I return. It's less pay, but is a better fit to my abilities and a much better supervisor.
I will say that despite the frustration and stress of the past few months my employer has really come through today. I did not qualify for FMLA, but my employer essentially offered me the equivalent while pushing through the transfer that was only briefly discussed on Friday.

Date: 2014-08-19 02:28 am (UTC)I am utterly exhausted, just eating a bedtime snack before tacking my nighttime pills. Tomorrow will be picking up pills, and packing a go bag.
If you have time for a tea or something tomorrow (not sure when your kids are leaving for the week), I would love to see you for a bit. I've got a therapy appointment in Vienna at 6:00 (provided I don't hear from uncle that I need to be on a flight to North Dakota ASAP). So I will be in that area.

Date: 2014-08-19 02:37 am (UTC)Kids' fly out at 3, so I think we need to leave the house around 12:30. I am going out for dinner with dh (probably on the early side, like 5-ish), but that's in Shirlington. I really don't know what time I'll be home.
After Labor Day, I will be free during the day.
When do you think you will be flying out? ::::hugs::::

Date: 2014-08-19 03:10 am (UTC)I still don't know when exactly I'll be flying out. My gut says tomorrow, but if my dad is able to travel back to Spokane with my Uncle (I thing I very much doubt considering the stage he is at), then it will be late this week early next week. My uncle was arriving in Bismark this evening. I'll have to get his take on things tomorrow after he talks with the oncologist and other staff. I spoke with my Dad several times today and he's hanging in there, but not doing so great (which is too be expected all things considered). They're going to do a biopsy tomorrow to get more information as it looks like it could also be in his colon. So right now we're in a holding pattern.
