I have fabulous friends

So in addition to the disturbing news I discuss in the previous post, I am dealing with the latest Herxheimer reaction from the increase in my antibiotics. The increase is a necessary evil in the treatment of Lyme, but it is not fun. So I'm generally feeling fairly miserable.

Knowing that I am not feeling well and probably shouldn't be by myself this weekend two of my very dear friends have offered to come fetch me (since I am not really safe or capable of driving right now) and bring me up to spend the weekend with them. I can cuddle with their animals and spend time just hanging out and get some TLC.

While part of me feels like I haven't spent enough time at home lately, the rest of me is relieved to not be spending the weekend on my lonesome. I'm happy that I can go spend time with my friends, since I don't usually have a lot of free weekends to go up during the school year (they live about an hour and a half from me).

Thank the gods for good friends. They provide a light in the dark.

You are lucky, indeed, to have such good friends and I am glad to hear it. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and that the change in meds does what it's supposed to without making you feel too miserable or disrupting your routine.

Thank you. I'm just glad I don't have a routine to interrupt right now. Spring classes are finished and my summer classes don't start til July. My workstudy is very light and only requires a couple of hours every few weeks and can thankfully be done when I feel up to it rather than on a set schedule. So despite the trouble Lyme has caused, and despite the trouble treatment brings, I have a great deal to be thankful for, including my awesome on- and off-line friends. :D

I just switched from Doxy to Ceflex and am hoping I don't end up with a Herxheimer reaction myself. Much sympathy from my end, may it end quickly. Those are *no fun*. Glad you have friends around to help.

I'm on tetracycline at the moment, and my doc wants to keep me on it for a while. We decided to do a more aggressive increase this go round since I have the down time (I was the one who suggested it, so I can't say I didn't know what I was getting into). If the herx gets to bad I can skip a dose or two of the antibiotic to let my system calm back down. Lyme treatment takes all the things I had been taught about antibiotics and turns them on its head. But it is working, slowly but surely.

I hope that you don't have a herx reaction and that your med changeover goes smoothly.

I am very thankful that I have friends around to help. Particularly these friends, who happen to not only be my heart family, but also be fellow Lyme warriors. So they really get what I'm going through.
