Oh Happy Day!

Grades are all in and I got not one, but TWO As (well an A and an A-, cause law school is silly and uses a plus/minus system). My other grade was a B+. The B+ was in perhaps the hardest, most stressful class of the semester so I'm thrilled with that grade. In fact I'm thrilled with all my grades. Time for happy dancing. :)

Thanks! I'm super thrilled. My school has a mandatory grading curve which is set at a B. So last year I was in the bottom half of the class even though I had a B- average. It looks like I'm pulling that up though. :) I'm not to concerned about being in the top of the class anymore, but the competitive academic nerd in me still kinda lusts for that spot.

Totally understandable! I've never cared much about being top of the class, but I did rather hope I would get my MA with honours when I realised how close to it I was. There's something about being at the top that's alluring at times. ^_^

Although I see how much stress the folks who are at the top of the class put on themselves, I'm usually happy to be right where I am. It was a bit of an adjustment for me, since in high school and undergrad I was in the top 10%. But I always make myself stop and take a deep breath. While the extra syllables after my BA look nice on a resume, they haven't meant much in the grander scheme of things. I'm happy being more middle of the pack now. Others can deal with the stress and expectations that go with that pretty perch up above. :D

ETA: Just realized that the "Isn't it pretty?" goes with the icon comment. Evil, foggy brain had connected it to the top of the class comment. Second read made things much clearer.

Also? That video is just downright freaky. Christopher Walken reminds me of a gigantic praying mantis of the wrong gender in this. After all, it's the female of that species which devour their partner after mating... *shudders*

Thanks for the congratulations! It's a great feeling to have done so well after such a rough semester. It's also great fun to be able to share my glee with others. I don't talk about grades with other students at my school if I can help it, cause it just leads to madness and bad things.

Yes, you have every right to be damn proud and tickled downright pink about your accomplishment! But you're right not to discuss grades with other students, who may not have done nearly as well; it's very kind of you.

It's like the unmentioned first rule of law school: do not talk about grades. It's even more noticeable in law school that it was in undergrad. Probably because we are all overachievers and many of us are perfectionists (it is what will make us decent lawyers). So it's not so much a kindness, but an act of self-preservation. ;D

He can be very scary, or very funny (and slightly scary) depending on the movie he's in. His role in the newer version of Hairspray is priceless. I will admit that I have yet to see Sleepy Hollows. It's on my list of things to see, but to watch in daylight hours. :)
