Particularly when I haven't been listening to it very well. Of course some changes occur very quickly, and some things do pop up overnight like canker sores. Pain may be the body's alert system, but identifying one particular set of pain/body alerts can be difficult when you have so very many different alert going off all the time does make it kind of difficult to know what your body is trying to tell you.
I've had a bone shard working its way up out of my gums for ages now, and the canker sores developed close enough to that spot that my brain took a while to differentiate to the two pains. The sores probably developed between Sunday and Monday nights. But by the time I took my teeth out Monday night it was bad, and extremely painful. On the plus side, I already had an appointment scheduled with my primary doctor today. So I could have her verify that they were just irritated sores and not infected or the sign of some other awful thing. Care and treatment will be not wearing my lower plates for a few days, unless absolutely necessary for eating, and rinsing with an antiseptic mouthwash. I also looked into a topical lidocaine but all of the ones at the store had inactive ingredients that I am either ridiculously sensitive to (Menthol) or that I need to avoid ingesting even tiny bits of (Sucralose, alcohol).
Not everything is awful though. Here are good things going on in my life:

- Spent time with wonderful friends on Sunday
- finally got to spend time with said friends
- Sunday evening was really awesome :D
- Survived yearly exam, and my blood pressure returned to normal ranges after the exam was done (it was through the roof prior to the exam)
- All of my most recent blood work was good
