Read all the things!
Oct. 30th, 2013 06:32 pmOr at least all the Hyperbole and a Half things. My copy of the Hyperbole and a Half book arrived today. So glad I pre-ordered it. It was a nice surprise. Trigger Warning! Some of the contents of Hyperbole and a Half may be triggering because of discussion of mental illness!
If you aren't familiar with Hyperbole and a Half, it is a heart-wrenchingly poignant, funny, and powerful blog with accompanying illustrations. The illustrations are all done in MS Paint, and so are highly stylized and simplified. This does not detract from their power. Allie Brosh, the author of this amazing blog, discusses all sorts of things from funny, amusing memories (The God of Cake), to her animals (Dog). Her posts on depression echoing powerfully with me (Adventures in Depression, Depression, Part II).
My all time favorite post, the one that drew me to the site and made me fall in love, is This is Why I'll Never Be an Adult.
The book has new material in it, which is very exciting, and just what I needed. I screwed up my meds this weekend and accidentally increased by antibiotics too much, so I've been having an awful herx. Slept most of Monday and worked from home yesterday. But made it to work today, and made it through the whole day! Am going to crash very soon. But I had to share my excitement over this book.
