I was feeling starting to feel a bit better today and agreed to ride into town with the friend I am currently visiting and her daughter and hang out while her daughter was at dance class. I quite enjoy the fannish and cultural conversation the three of us usually get into (her daughter is 17) and was looking forward to the time. My friend and I went for dinner because I realized I was starving (and was starting to feel a bit light headed and stuff). I ordered a steak because that is almost always something I can do, with a side Cesar salad (okay because the place makes their own dressing and no sugar or other additives that feed yeast are used), and a side of buttered corn (which I usually avoid but was the best choice of veggie they had, and I can eat it if I try to minimize my intake of it). I hadn't realized the steak would come with mushrooms though, and I am not terribly fond of mushrooms especially if my stomach has been upset recently. I scraped the mushrooms off and proceeded to eat my dinner. The steak still tasted strongly of mushrooms (and this was a particular one that tends to taste "slimy" (for lack of a better word, I've never been able to come up with a good descriptor for the taste) that I tend to associate with this particular type of mushroom--I think they were button mushrooms. It didn't taste all that great to me, so I focused on my salad and ate a little bit of the corn. I managed to eat about half of the steak, all of the salad, and half the corn before I felt like I was full enough to not pass out. I then got a too go box for the steak. On the way home I got terribly nauseous (motion sickness does happen to me more frequently now that I am on antibiotics for Lyme treatment, even in the front side passenger seat). Thankfully we were nearly home before when I got to the point where I was just about ready to have my friend pull the car over. I rolled the window down, swallowed lots and lots and focused on not throwing up. I managed that task, came inside had some seltzer water and took some Benedryl (antihistimines are the main ingredient in anti-nausea medication like Dramamine). I was also noticing that I had a lot of post nasal drip, which had increased since dinner time and was probably an aggravating factor. I am now feeling less like I am likely to be physically ill. But would really, really love for this increased nausea and sensitivity to motion sickness to go the fuck away.

On the up side the conversation was just as good as I hoped it would be. Am now kind of sorting watching Robotech with friend's son and sitting quietly. I think I may skip a dose or two of the antibiotics and let the herx calm down. I am traveling to visit a friend in the DC area next week and want to be able to navigate the parts of the trip without feeling like I've felt this week. My doctor did tell me that I could skip a few days of tetracycline to let the herx reaction quiet down before I traveled. Lyme treatment is so fucking weird.

Is there any possibility that you are becoming allergic to mushrooms? My Mom is allergic to them and her symptoms are that her body attempts to purge itself of the offensive material by every means at its disposal (in her case, seemingly as violently as possible). Your nausea and nasal symptoms sound like the beginnings of allergic reaction.

Other than that bit of unpleasantness, I am glad to hear that you are out and about and enjoying yourself! It really is great to get out and relax and socialize.

Ugh, that sounds horrid. I'm glad you managed to control the nausea because vomiting is the worst. Well, one of the worst things. Probaby better not to eat the leftovers if you felt that awful.

*hug*

Also, I hope you enjoy DC! The weather in this area has been atrocious lately but there are some thunderstorms today that are cooling things off. Maybe it will last through the weekend...
