Getting back into creative writing

Was chatting with amejisuto about writing poetry earlier and realized it's been...apparently five years since I've written any.

I'm definitely going to need to change that. :D I had planned to write something short tonight, but only got home about half an hour ago. I ended up going out to dinner with my nephew, then taking him and myself to get groceries (we decided it was best to do it tonight and avoid the Superbowl shoppers tomorrow/Saturday). So I will have to work on new poems later.

However, I have also gotten back into writing fanfic, which is super exciting. The last thing I posted fanfic wise was about a decade ago (and that poor wip is likely to go unfinished sadly). But towards the end of 2019 I got invited to join a fandom friend's pre-reader discord server, and then I joined the Steter Network discord server. And I find myself writing again (they are wonderful enablers).

I wrote a short fic for my dear friend green for Christmas, and I forgot to share it here. It was very much inspired by this rather incestuous feeling Folgers ad and thus could be considered a problematic pairing. So no worries about skipping if that's not to your taste (or if Teen Wolf isn't your fandom).

Lol. That was how I felt when I first started reading Teen Wolf stories. "I'll just read this one, but that's it." Then I ended up completely sucked in.

Yay fanfic! I've also been getting into it lately and it has been a sheer delight. I find it to be a very good form of self care.

I wrote some Buffy crossovers back in the day (mid-2000s mostly), but life and health issues got in the way and killed my creativity in that realm for a long time. Fanfic reading has long been my primary source of relaxing and entertainment. And I'm enjoying hanging out with fellow fans on some of the discords I'm on. Thankfully they are well moderated and there are no purity police/anti-shipper types on the discord servers I'm on). I got off tumblr because the atmosphere of bashing people for what fictional works and themes they wanted to explore just pisses me off, and fandom is my relaxation thing so to hell with those types of people. :D

Tumblr always felt like a weirdly hostile place to me. I tried it once or twice in its heyday, and I always felt like I wasn't queer enough or perfect enough. So I just left.

I'm in a couple of Drarry discords now, as well as the HP women-loving-women discord, and it's fantastic! Those have been a really nice way of socializing online and escaping toxicity elsewhere.

I am definitely loving discord for that reason. It's given me a nice social outlet that works well with my frequently low spoons.
