Diagnostic test showed no abnormalities. So that is a good thing and a huge fucking relief.

Yesterday when I was at the doctor, she got really concerned about the peeling skin around my nipples that I had been told was yeast caused by the prednisone. She then did a breast exam and apparently found one or two small lumps. She said that it could just be swollen lymph nodes, but that she wanted me to have a mammogram anyway. She also wanted me to come back as soon as my insurance would let me for a full physical and ordered the usual round of metabolic and vitamin deficiency blood tests. As soon as I got home I got on my insurance web-site (and why are those always so poorly designed!) and found a radiology clinic that was covered by my plan. As luck would have it they had an opening today, so I was able to schedule the mammogram and ultrasound (with biopsy to follow if needed and thankfully it wasn't) for this afternoon. I'm really glad I didn't have to sit and worry about worst-case scenarios for very long as I cannot help but look up things to try to prepare myself for the worst. This is not always a very useful habit. So I went over this afternoon with one of my sisters and had the mammogram and ultrasound done. I was exceedingly relieved that they found no abnormalities and that the tissues that had my doctor concerned were just lymph nodes. The nipples are just chapped and dry, possibly from the powder used to treat the yeast infection. The doctor at the clinic suggested using one of the creams recommended to nursing mothers for chapped nipples. I shouldn't need another mammogram til I'm 40. So that's a relief.

I still have to go get blood work done, but I scheduled an appointment for that for Monday morning. My PCP also referred me to an allergist to discuss the possible tetracycline allergy more in depth since my Lyme doc really, really wants me to be able to take the tetracycline. I have my initial appointment with them on Tuesday. And my physical is scheduled for late January (the one blessing of having new insurance is that I can schedule the physical whenever I want).

Other happy making things:
  • I got an amazing and wonderful care-package from [personal profile] sperrywink today with many happy making things
  • my family is awesome, as are my friends
  • hot showers are wondrous things
