Proofreading-a note for Professors
Dec. 20th, 2010 07:56 pmWhen giving an exam, particularly to doctorate level students, please proofread the exam. I understand that it takes a lot to write an exam, and I will congratulate you for writing one that was as challenging and mentally taxing as this one. However, I still have a certain level of expectation. I expect that you will at least give me the same respect that I give you, and in the effort to produce an exam that is readable and coherent, proofread your material. A few typos are understandable, gross errors are not. Thank you for at least orally correcting the most glaring errors at the beginning of the instructions, but it is hard to take you seriously when you have to do this.
Also please make sure you bring enough copies of the exam. The delay caused by not having enough exams printing out simply causes more stress in your students. We are prepared to begin on time, you should be too.
