Ick, bad spiders bites are no fun. I had a very nasty, painful, super-swollen wolf-spider bite down here that sounds a lot like what you went through, and also a recluse bite that rotted a dime-sized hole in my leg. All in all, despite the suckage, I was glad for me and am glad for you that it wasn't a tick, though!
