So the amazing
raze has rescued five stray underfed dogs this weekend. Zie is raising money to help with their care and vet bills. I have copied her post below. If you have some to spare or can signal boost it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Earlier this week, we were in touch with an individual regarding four stray puppies in a rural area. They had been starving for over a month, their only food coming from a good samaritan who could not afford to feed them and was bringing them discarded bread from behind a grocery store while posting online hoping someone could help. We saw their plea and networked these dogs to a rescue in NY, which agreed to take them.
On arrival, the situation wasn't quite as described. There were not four pups, but three pups, a young adult male, and a mother dog. All five were very thin and running loose on the road at danger of being hit. So we loaded the whole family up and took them straight to the vet's for evaluation. The pups were determined to be about 5 months old, the father a year, and the mother 3-5 years. Everyone is heartworm negative though very parasitized elsewise, and quite underweight. Full grown and healthy, everyone will be 20-30lb adult dogs, which is good for their placement prospects.
This is not to say they don't need work. To have them tested, vaccinated, given preventives, etc. has racked up quite a bill already (over $200), and this isn't accounting for the cost of keeping them fed and transporting them to New York. So I've set up a chip-in to help cover their expenses and hopefully kick a few bucks towards the rescue taking them. If you click the widget you can read more, or go to the chip-in page's link here. We will be updating with pictures of vet invoices and the like as proof that every dollar WILL be going towards these dogs.
