Yeah definitely rest lots and lots, as museums can be...really tiring at times. I think it's all the standing and all the people. If you need a place to sit down and still do museums the Air and Space museum has some pretty cool IMAX showings (as does the Natural History Museum). Air and Space also has a planetarium. The Hubble 3D IMAX at Air and Space looks really cool, I should go see it sometime. They also have a cool one about the Space Station, but I think they only show it during the winter now because it's kind of old.
You probably have loads of places to visit, but the National Cathedral is also another of my favorite "sacred spaces" in DC and is also where Helen Keller and Ann Sullivan are entombed (down below, in the crypt). It was damaged during the earthquake but I think you can go inside again.
