A while back by Lyme Dr. referred me to a hematologist for evaluation due to noticeable increase in bruising and a couple of inconsistent lab results. I finally got in to see the hematologist in December, and had an additional trip in early January for more blood work. Today was my follow up appointment. I had to have the additional blood work done because I had forgotten that you aren't supposed to take certain medication (like ibuprofen) for 10 days prior to the appointment. I remembered about five days before the appointment. I hadn't taken a lot of ibuprofen in the five days prior to that, but it was enough to skew the results. The second results were much more normal. There were no indications of an underlying bleeding disorder. I should moderate my intake of certain medications (ibuprofen, aspirin), and continue to monitor my thyroid levels (apparently out of whack thyroid can affect platelet function) but that's it. It's a huge relief.
