Well it's been a bit since I posted. Life has been busy, and somewhat stressful. I got over my dreadful cold, and then my fibromyalgia flared up again. So I had some frustration with that. Finally got to see my doctor and get my medical care established in VT (previously was in WA, and the transfer of care was nowhere near as simple as it should have been). The doctor is one I've seen in the past, but it has been nearly six years since I last saw him (having been out of state, and at one time out of country during those six years). Found out my WA state dr office did not send my medical records per request, so have to call Monday to find out what happened. Should have requested that they be sent directly to me. Don't know why I didn't, but that's hindsight for you.

What I like about this doc (and pretty much the reason I was willing to put up with waiting for six plus weeks for my intake appointment) is that he treats the person and not just the symptoms. He looks for the root of problems, and looks to natural solutions as well as pharmaceutical ones. We determined that my problem sleeping (despite already being on Ambien) is probably the reason my flare-ups are more frequent. So we've added some supplements to my night time routine (5-HTP, and Magnesium malate). We'll see how this helps (and hopefully it will). My next check is in three months. Thankfully I know my class schedule so I was able to schedule my appointment without worrying about a conflict.

After my appointment I headed up the mountain to spend the evening/night with friends. Had a lovely time hanging out and visiting. It was a wonderful break from law school and related stresses. These friends are my family of choice, and I always relish time spent with them. I am looking forward to the holidays this year.

We enjoyed spending an evening by the fire, and working on knitting while hanging out. I've managed to make some headway on my current project, a scarf. I'm still a beginner, and it's such fun to see a project take shape. My stitches are fairly even this time (my second full project), and I only have a few places where I dropped a stitch. Another friend gave me two lovely skeins of soft homespun. Don't know yet what I'll make with it, but look forward to using it. I would love to attempt a sweater, but don't know if I'm up to that yet.

This morning was absolutely gorgeous. We woke up to snow falling. There is something so nice about being wrapped up in quilts and flannel and watching light fluffy flakes fall. We had a quiet morning. I drank my coffee, channel surfed and cuddled with the dog while my friend surfed the 'net. A late breakfast and more knitting finished up the morning. I spent part of the afternoon visiting with other members of my chosen family, and then headed back down the mountain. By then the snow had turned to rain, and the roads were clear.

This evening I attempted to be sociable on a larger scale and actually attended a Halloween party. My "costume" wasn't much, as I am dead broke and not feeling terribly creative. I have an old t-shirt with Death from the Sandman comics. I paired that with a red turtleneck and went as the Red Death. Cheesy, but it worked.

I was, however, quickly reminded why I don't usually socialize on a larger scale (I prefer small gatherings). Crowds are not my cup of tea, and I find them to be overwhelming and exhausting. If I plan enough ahead of time I can usually prepare myself for crowds. I went and had a good time, but after a couple of hours I could feel a headache starting. So I left early and came home to relax. Made me feel a bit like a old fuddy-duddy, as I left right about the time the party was really getting started, but I know my tolerance levels and I was quickly approaching it.

That pretty much catches me up. :) Tomorrow it's back to the grind. I have research to conduct and reading to catch up on. Hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween.
