Dear body, now is not the time to get sick

I haven't felt so good the past few days. May be coming down with something. It's not a herx as I haven't increased my antibiotics anytime recently. Possibly a cold or cold-like virus. Possibly my body reacting to the barometric pressure of the storm. All I know is that I hurt today. Tired, achy, blech.

Damnit universe--a week and a half prior to the exam is not the time to get sick. Sigh.

Will take today off instead of Sunday, which was my planned day off. And if need be re-adjust my plans for the rest of my studies. It's really hard not to feel guilty for needing to take some time off of studying, but as I tell others: resting is not doing nothing, it's giving your body time to heal. Why is it so much harder to listen to your own advice?

Mantras for the next few weeks:
  • My worth and value is not impacted by this test.
  • Despite having come a long way in treatment I am still very sick and not able bodied.
  • I have already been offered a job, and that job does not hinge on me passing the bar exam.
  • Many famous people had to take the bar exam multiple times
  • Resting now will improve my chances of retaining information later

Suggestions for fluffy, fun movies or tv shows are welcome. Not sure what I'm in the mood for other than curling up in my pjs.

Also, better to take the time off now to get better and be feeling better (hoepfully) for the exam!

Your mantras are awesome and so are you. <3

I very much like your mantras! Sorry that things are going :( , but hopefully it will not last for too long. *sends good thoughts*

Am not sure what rec's to send, as most of the things I have been watching lately involve murders (to various degrees of gore.) I think Foyle's War is a lovely show even though there are murders, because as my grandmother says they are "polite murders" and the tie ins with WWII history and spies and saboteurs and suchlike are very interesting. However, you know best what works for your brain right now.

Oh, also have been enjoying the BBC version of Robin Hood. Have only watched the first season so far (partly because it seems as though the castle dungeons are just a little too easy to escape from), but it's fun and campy and Maid Marian kicks ass. Definite fluff imo.

*offers tea* Call me if you want to, or IM is also a possibility <3

:D Should mention that there are occasional moments in Robin Hood of The Sheriff of Nottingham intends to do Very Bad Things, which (spoiler alert) for the most part Robin Hood and Merry Men avert. But, you know, hard to have a believable story where the worst thing he would do would be tickle someone to find out Robin Hood's whereabouts, you know? So there is /some/ violent stuff, but it's usually not on screen and/or only threatened. Thought I should give you a heads up.

Yep, exactly what you said in your post, it's right on the money. I hear you about the crazy weather affecting your pain level, it definitely is not just you, so rest up now to enable you to study later.

As for fluffy fun, I highly recommend the TV Land series "Hot in Cleveland". Though, it may make you laugh a bit hard at times. I would also recommend the Nickelodeon tv series "The Penquins of Madegascar". Yes, it's a kiddie show, but the penguins are still pretty great and most of their shows are on two levels. As for movies, "The Legend of Belle Isle" is one of those 'feel good' movies that's not entirely schlock and it's got Morgan Freeman, which is always a win. "One for the Money" is a movie adapted from the book of the same name about a female PI in New Jersey by the name of Stephanie Plum. It has a few serious moments, but it's a lot of fun. If you want something with a tad bit more meat to it, check out the "Cadfael" series, about a medieval monk who solves mysteries. It's a lot better than it sounds and Sir Derek Jacobi is good in anything. Lastly, "The Dresden Files" TV series is pretty good, despite not being like the books. If you're not familiar, Harry Dresden is a wizard PI in Chicago. All of the previously mentioned shows are on Amazon Prime streaming. I hope you've got that as well as Netflix. Amazon Prime is pretty awesome, because not only do they have a fair amount of content in their Prime free streaming section, you also get free two day shipping on everything shipped by Amazon, which is a win all the way around.

I hope you feel much better soon! Do your best to enjoy your enforced day off and rest well. :) *sending positive vibes*

Ah yes, I forgot about "Hot in Cleveland"! I love that show, mostly for Betty White honestly. Because Betty White is great. Also there is an older show from when Betty White was younger that is in black and white called "Life with Elizabeth" that is kind of like "I Love Lucy" only it's with Betty White instead of Lucille Ball. Which just makes it much better imo. One thing with "Life with Elizabeth" is that there is a certain amount of 1950s gender stereotype stuff in place; however, she does a bit of pushing the envelope about what the role of a doting housewife is/should be. Also it's hysterical.

All Hail Betty White, queen of the awesomeness. XD (As per below, Life with Elizabeth is I think on either Netflix or Amazon Prime but I really can't keep the two separate in my brain anymore, they just blur together.)

Thanks for the heads up on "Life with Elizabeth". I saw a few clips of that on a documentary I was watching the other day and Betty White was definitely adding in a few mild, tongue in cheek digs at the status quo. I'm going to have to see if I can find that series and give it a try.

I think it's on Netflix? Or possibly Amazon Prime. I have trouble keeping their thingies separated in my mind, they kind of blur together.

Oops! Sorry, the Morgan Freeman movie is called "The Magic of Belle Isle", not Legend. *facepalms*

As the others have said, I do like your mantras. Such a good idea!

I'm not sure I can think of any show recommendations. Just out of curiosity, do you take anime recommendations?

I do hope you are feeling better.

If you're looking for light and fluffy, you could try Girls und Panzer. I think it is streamable on CrunchyRoll. In fact, here's a link right to it.
