Photos: Mid-September in Vermont and the Springfield Vermont Steampunk Festival
I took some photos when I went to the Steampunk Festival and of some landscapes on my drives there and back home. We had a longer summer than normal. Usually by mid-September the leaves have started to turn, but this year the temps remained warmer a bit longer. We've only just started having frost warnings. So there is very little fall color here, but some lovely late summer shots. I also tried to get shots of some of my favorite costumes at the festival. I don't have a lot of spoons, so I've linked to the slideshow. Sadly this cuts off some of the descriptions, but if you click on view all you can go to my photobucket account and see them individually which will allow you to read the full descriptions.

Did you have fun, despite the lack of spoons?

Vermont is very green, at least in late spring and summer. Heck the name is even taken from french (vert for green and mount for mountain), it is literally the Green Mountain state. The latter part of summer has been a bit drier than normal, but things are still pretty green. That will start to change as we move headlong in autumn and winter.

Vermont certainly deserves its name! Though to be fair, I have that reaction to just about any overseas landscape. The climate over here is very dry and the natives tend to be more olive than a true green.

The photos you've posted remind me slightly of the American southwest, which is also very dry; and slightly of the more arid parts of Jamaica (for such a tiny island they have a ton of microclimates). It's beautiful, but a very different type of beauty.

I should take some more landscapes sometime soon.

I've never been to a steam punk con before (anime/scifi/comic cons have been my main thing), and I'm wondering if it's more like a renn faire than a "fan" con?
