Understanding the realities of it is one of the big draws. I've been acting as a patient advocate for a dear friend and that has helped me realize that I would likely be very good at disability law (a large component of which is helping people navigate the Social Security Disability process). I've never been one who wanted to practice law to get rich, so if I can find a way to make enough money to keep my head above water without having to work myself into the ground I will be very happy.
