Walking on sunshine

I finally got all my grades in. I got two B minuses (yes they do make a distinction on our grading scale in law school between A, A-, B+, B, B-...etc) and two Bs along with a Pass for legal writing (which was a pass/fail course). So my grade point average worked out to 2.83. All things considered this makes me very happy. I was most worried about my constitutional law final, and that was one of the ones I got a B on.

In addition to finally getting my grades back and doing better than I thought (I really thought I'd gotten a C in Con Law), I also had a mock interview today that went very well. I ended up having a very nice conversation with my interviewer and even got invited to email her to schedule a time to come down and check out the firm that she works with. She used to work as a public defender and still does criminal defense work in addition to practicing a wide variety of civil law. I plan on following up on the opportunity. I am interested in criminal law, though I think I would rather do prosecution than defense (but I'm trying to keep an open mind as opportunity may take me elsewhere). I would rather stay closer to my friends/family, and this firm is two hours from my current home. That said, I feel that it would be foolish to waste the opportunity to make connections and see more of New England.

I then managed to spend an hour and a half mingling and being social without following my wallflower tendencies and hiding in a corner. So today was a very good day. Classes start up again tomorrow and I'm feeling pretty good about it all. I'm looking forward to my criminal law class, and my legal writing seminar both of which are tomorrow. My winter break (and many discussions with friends on- and offline) gave me much needed time to recenter and recharge. Plus now I have a better idea of what to expect, so I'm not nearly so anxious about the semester. I'll probably stress out again around finals, but that is to be expected. :)

And now for a moment of Glee!:
