alee_grrl: miniature pumpkin surrounded by fall leaves (pumpkin leaves)
Thought I would collect all of my answers to the 2013 Treak or Treat Haiku fest that [personal profile] jjhunter hosted yesterday.

Prompt: Werewolves

the moon is full and
my feet itch to run and howl
with the pack; sadly

my skin refuses to change
and human I remain

Prompt: Leaf

leave me alone
I will fall in my own time
a leaf on the wind

(also check out the [personal profile] luzula's lovely follow-up to this haiku)

Prompt: Happiness

a tiny kindness
giggles and bubbles breeze by
warm cider and hugs

Prompt: Flowers

memorial blooms
sprigs of love brighten shades of
grief; life blooms in death

[personal profile] jjhunter has a trick or treat: haiku post up. She did this last year too and it is a lot of fun. Go to the post, leave a prompt in the comments, and/or answer a prompt with a haiku. It's super fun.

Happy Halloween and blessed Samhain.
alee_grrl: Picture of a variety of spoons, text reads "never enough spoons" (never enough spoons)
Brief discussion of medical stuff. )

Fe: a haikai

limbs slow and heavy
thought fragments bleed through cotton
stuffed brain, bruised bags shine

against pale skin. Not zombie.
Just iron deficient.
alee_grrl: Open book with purple iris in crease, text reads poetry (poetry)
Something light hearted.

Bubbles

Breathe soft through soap film
fragile rainbow sphere floats off
oh so fun to pop
alee_grrl: Open book with purple iris in crease, text reads poetry (poetry)
braced wood
smoke scented air
almost winter

A quick sensory snapshot from this evening.

A response to the Climbing the Poet's Tree Challenge #15. Note: not eligible for winner as writer is one of the community admins.

Summer Heat

sweat oozes from every pore
wish for a breeze and some shade
cold treats bring big smiles

[personal profile] jjhunter posted a great little challenge/meme. Answer the question "how are you?" in haiku form. I decided to go with the answer as it would be right this moment. I thought I would share the results on my own blog as well, though mine ended up being a haikai instead of a haiku.

Content with many
things done but now gravity
weighs me down; throat aches.

Crosses fingers, may pollen
be the culprit not virus

or bacteria.
Too many things left to do;
too much to enjoy.

Early rest and fluids with
antihistamines may aid

with hope. A fresh day
will raise me up and free my
throat for singing joy.
alee_grrl: Eddie Izzard pointing at his head. Text: In my Mind. (in my mind)
Print swirls across blank
page, energy and knowledge
seep out as you type;

eyes glaze over. Yes, zombie
brief eats your brains as you type.

Coolness.

I've been featured in a post by [personal profile] jjhunter over on [community profile] poetree. I got a mention for a haikai seed I started on [community profile] dreamwidth_haikai and one that [personal profile] jjhunter and I collaborated on. I'm quite honored and tickled pink. Please check out this new community celebrating poetry. [community profile] poetree is a lot of fun and is focused not just on celebrating the poems themselves but on exploring and understanding poetry in general. There are fabulous poems and interesting meta-posts.

So today kicks off the [community profile] three_weeks_for_dw festival. [personal profile] jjhunter, myself and others will be participating in a dreamwidth haikai festival over at [community profile] dreamwidth_haikai. During the festival, each morning someone will post a "seed" haikai stanza with a dreamwidth related theme (which is actually a really broad topic). Then others will respond with their own stanzas. It is a lot of fun to play with these and I encourage everyone to check it out.

Check out specifics for the festival here.

Check out today's awesome first post and the amazing responses here.

Thanks to jjhunter for the invite.

Here's the haiku I posted in the invite request (I was proud of it and thought I'd share it here too):

Wise dreamers see far
beyond discontent winter.
Art creating life.

That done, it's been a long day and I need to go to bed now. I'll play more with settings and stuff tomorrow. Sweet dreams.
